  • New builds and major renovations — must have hardwired 240V photoelectric smoke alarms from the point of construction or renovation approval.

This isn’t optional compliance. Under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990 (Qld), non-compliant properties can face penalties — and more importantly, inadequate smoke alarms cost lives.

Where Must Smoke Alarms Be Installed in Your Home?

  • On every level of the home — not just the ground floor
